Portable long service leave in Queensland
Last reviewed: 14 August 2026. Every figure checked against each scheme's own website. Information only. The scheme is the authority on your entitlement.
Queensland has the broadest single-authority coverage in the country: QLeave runs three separate schemes (building and construction, contract cleaning, and community services) under one roof, with one phone number and one login. The qualifying periods and entitlements differ between the three, so check which of the three you are in.
Queensland also has portable long service leave for community services, contract cleaning. Each is set out below.

Registering and having your service recorded
Employers who engage eligible workers must register with QLeave, and employers submit returns each quarter. Workers can and should check their own registration and service record through the QLeave worker portal.
You can take the leave all at once or in smaller portions, and your entitlement keeps growing while you keep doing eligible work [source].
If you have worked in more than one state
Construction service is recognised across every state and territory under a National Reciprocal Agreement, so work in QLD can count towards an entitlement elsewhere, but only if the schemes know about it. Outside construction, portability between states is inconsistent. Read what happens to your entitlement when you move states.
